These simple tools make sharing your lung cancer story easy and effective.
On May 17th, hundreds of advocates from across the country will meet virtually with elected officials to advocate for the lung cancer community during the 2022 Lung Cancer Voices Summit. Whether you’re participating in the event or not, YOU can amplify our message as we tell Congress that all patients deserve high-quality care and depend on research funding and early detection for survivorship.
Lung cancer is personal. It’s personal to patients, caregivers, family members and the broader care community. And your journey is unique. Sharing your story helps to put a name and a face to the disease. Collectively, our stories are even more powerful.
Be an advocate—from home.
You don’t have to attend the virtual Lung Cancer Voices Summit to participate and make a difference on May 17th. We have developed resources to guide you in being an advocate from the comfort of your own home.
Our lung cancer advocacy toolkit includes information about our advocacy priorities and makes it easy for you to contact your elected officials and amplify our message online. These simple actions only take a few minutes.
- Sign up for Voter Voice with your email and zip code. This online advocacy tool lets you easily send a prewritten email and tweet to your lawmakers.
- Add the #VoicesSummit hashtag when telling your lung cancer story on social media to amplify your message and connect with other lung cancer advocates.
- Search #VoicesSummit to find and retweet/share what others are saying to help build momentum as one collective voice across social media platforms.
- Add eye-catching graphics to your social media posts.
- Create a quick selfie video that shares your story and puts a face to the disease. We provide tips and a quick script in the toolkit’s video guidelines.
Plus, our advocacy toolkit gives you access to other helpful tips and tools, including a short glossary on common legislative and advocacy terms.
Join us in requesting more funding for lung cancer research and women and lung cancer.
This year, we have two key advocacy priorities:
- Requesting $60 million in funding for the Lung Cancer Research Program (LCRP), administered by The Department of Defense’s Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP).
- Asking Members of Congress to co-sponsor the Women and Lung Cancer Research and Preventive Services Act, which seeks to answer how and why lung cancer advances in younger women and never smokers. Learn more in this recent video featuring Representative Brendan Boyle.
Add your voice and your story so your elected senators and representative understand that anyone with lungs can get lung cancer—and that their support is critical.
Check out our advocacy toolkit today and decide to add your voice and participate. Then join us on May 17th as one collective voice to help save lives. Take action and find empowerment by sharing your story.
Thank you to AMGEN, AstraZeneca, Bristol Myers Squibb, Daiichi Sankyo and MERCK for generously supporting the 2022 Lung Cancer Voices Summit.
