Evy Schiffman
Evy Schiffman taught high school English for 16 years, followed by a 21-year career as the director of marketing and communications at an arts education nonprofit. When her husband Neil was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in 2011, she retired to be his caregiver. The couple became involved with the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation as users of their resources and as active volunteers. Since 2013, Evy has also raised funds as the captain of Team Neil SoloZip at the annual San Francisco 5K. Sadly, Neil died in 2015. Unbelievably, in 2018, Evy was diagnosed with stage 1 lung cancer, an accidental, incidental discovery that led to surgical removal of the lower left lobe of her lung. “Doing rewarding volunteer work for GO2 is a meaningful way for me to honor Neil’s memory,” says Evy, adding, “It is also a great privilege to help advance GO2 for Lung Cancer’s mission to make lung cancer a chronically managed disease for all.”
