Because of the dual impact on our respiratory system, we’ve coined the term Lung Cancer + COVID-19 = Twice the Problem in an earlier blog post. Another strong step has been taken in our comprehensive strategy to elevate the needs of our community by reinforcing that those with lung cancer require access to the vaccine – NOW.  GO2 for Lung Cancer, and other leading cancer non-profits under the All Cancers Congress, are asking state governors to give cancer patients prioritization above that of the general public in the COVID-19 vaccination distribution plan.  You can read the letter here.

In addition to advocating directly to State Governors, our comprehensive strategy also includes:

  • Activating the community to write directly to the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) about the need for cancer patients to receive vaccination priority.
  • Advocating with the COVID-Lung Cancer Consortium to urgently request that patients who receive the first dose of a multi-dose regime are ensured timely receipt of the second dose to obtain the full benefit of the protection. Here is the recent statement distributed via The Cancer Letter.
  • Educating and empowering patients with the latest breaking information and support they need to combat COVID 19 and take action through our past weekly joint statements from lung cancer advocacy groups on COVID-19 and other related blogs, and the monthly live-streamed Lung Cancer Living Room series.

Our community should receive nothing less than what is obvious – patients with lung cancer and other cancers must receive vaccine prioritization. We remain unrelenting in making this happen. http://loans-cash.net
