Men and women who served in the military, especially those who served in combat, are at higher risk of lung cancer than civilians. For well over 15 years, GO2 for Lung Cancer has made screening and care for our military men and women a core priority. We are committed to ensuring that Veterans get the help, support, information, and access to care they need to detect the disease at early stages, improve quality of life, and advance research and advocacy efforts to save lives.

Our recently announced partnership with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) will help us expand our reach into the Veteran community to improve outcomes and save lives. This partnership allows GO2 for Lung Cancer to offer the VA educational and technical assistance and to collaborate on ways to improve Veterans’ access to high quality screening and care in communities where they live. This partnership will strengthen and accelerate efforts to change the reality of lung cancer for our service members.

Specifically, we will be developing tools, materials, and resources to increase awareness of the importance of lung cancer screening and educate on the value of screening among Veterans. Through this partnership, health care professionals and the broader lung cancer community will receive educational resources to increase awareness of the unique risk factors, needs, and concerns of Veterans, along with information on the importance of screening and early detection.

“Our Veterans served us – we must serve them in return – and we can only do this in partnership with [the VA].  Everyone is energized to do whatever it takes–whatever the need–and get it done together!” said Laurie Fenton Ambrose, Co-Founder, President, and CEO of GO2 for Lung Cancer.
