Sarah McHale headshotWe are delighted to welcome Sarah McHale, LCSW, OSW-C, to the GO2 Patient Support Team as senior manager of support programs and implementation.

Sarah joins Maureen Rigney, Miranda Goff, and Michele Zeh on GO2’s HelpLine to offer one-on-one support, educational resources, referrals, and guidance on screening for people living with or at risk for lung cancer.

Sarah’s role also includes managing the National Lung Cancer Support Group Network and implementing new community programs. She is passionate about providing accessible help to people impacted by cancer, primarily through education and support groups. Her areas of interest include mind-body tools for cancer-related stress and caregiver support. Stay tuned for the expansion of GO2’s support programs, co-led by Sarah!

“I am most excited to meet the GO2 community and discover what else we can offer to help individuals cope with lung cancer,” said Sarah. “Navigating the big, strong feelings that come with a cancer diagnosis and treatment can be challenging. I hope that by teaching coping skills, I can support GO2’s goal to improve the quality of life and best meet the needs of people with lung cancer.”

Before joining GO2, Sarah worked at Inova Schar Cancer Institute’s “Life with Cancer” program, where she provided therapeutic support, education, and resources to patients and their loved ones. She has experience facilitating support groups and programs about survivorship, stress reduction, couples’ communication, and grief. Sarah is a licensed clinical social worker in Virginia and a certified oncology social worker. She has a master’s degree in social work from Stony Brook University.

Sarah is a native of New York and now lives in Northern Virginia with her husband. In her spare time, she likes to go on walks with her dog and complete a daily crossword puzzle. She is looking forward to spending time at the beach with family and friends this summer.
