Granville brings experience overseeing scientific strategy and research 

WASHINGTON, Feb. 12, 2024 GO2 for Lung Cancer (GO2) announced that it has hired Courtney Granville as chief scientific officer. In this role, she oversees GO2’s community-engaged research, clinical research, Lung Cancer Registry, and LungMATCH programs. She develops and manages the implementation of science and research strategies to address the unmet needs of the lung cancer community.

“Courtney’s experience leading scientific teams will be invaluable as we continue to increase research, expand our portfolio of studies, and build collaborative partnerships,” said GO2 President and CEO Laurie Ambrose. “We are thrilled to have Courtney join our team as we work together to improve the lives of those living with or at risk for lung cancer.” 

Granville was inspired to join GO2 in a role that brings together her passions for ending cancer and supporting those living with a diagnosis with her research interests. For more than two decades, her research career focused on understanding the molecular and environmental drivers of lung and other cancers. She has experience in building multidisciplinary teams in government, academic, commercial, and nonprofit settings.   

Granville was previously with the Drug Information Association where she served as vice president and head of science and scientific strategy. Before that, she was the executive director of the Pelotonia Prize, providing vision and oversight for the development of the foremost global prize in cancer research for the largest single-location ride/walk/run fundraiser in the United States. She also served as a research leader and senior research scientist at Battelle Memorial Institute. 

Granville graduated from Yale University with a Bachelor of Science degree. She holds a Master of Science in Public Health from the University of North Carolina and a Ph.D. from George Washington University in biochemistry and molecular genetics.

Granville lives in Bethesda, MD. She enjoys mentoring and empowering others to achieve their goals, relationship-building, and creating strategic partnerships.
