Have you joined us at a Gathering HOPE event?

We first introduced this monthly social/support gathering in Fall 2021 and it has become one of our most popular programs. Dozens of lung cancer community members join us on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 5-6:30pm PT/8-9:30pm ET for a casual and warm virtual event.  Attendees connect and communicate with new and old friends and talk about anything (and everything) going on in their lives – lung cancer or otherwise! In fact, they have found so much to talk about that we’re extending it from 60 to 90 minutes!

Gathering HOPE takes place on Zoom (video isn’t required but is encouraged) and is for anyone experiencing lung cancer, no matter where they are in the journey. It is a wonderful opportunity for newly diagnosed patients to hear from, connect with, and gain insights from those who have been living with lung cancer for a long time, but it is also great place for those with more experience with lung cancer to catch up with old friends and to share expertise and hope with those more recently diagnosed.

“Gathering HOPE … offers a virtual platform for fellowship of patients and survivors, all together offering hope thru valued support, helpful resources and opportunities in making a difference for lung cancer and its communities.”

– Scott Kindred

Gathering HOPE takes place on Zoom (video isn’t required but is encouraged) and is for anyone experiencing lung cancer, no matter where they are in the journey. It is quite different from your typical virtual event in that the topics and pace are set by the people who attend, and is a safe place for everyone. In general, the event flows as follows:

  • Once the event begins, everyone will have a chance to introduce themselves and share their diagnosis, treatment and/or experiences with lung cancer, if comfortable doing so.
  • Following introductions, conversation may include any number of topics including coping strategies, treatment questions or topics unrelated to lung cancer. There is never any pressure to participate, but it will always be a safe and supportive place.
  • The group may be divided into smaller zoom rooms if there are more than 40 participates. Smaller groups allow for personal conversation and give more people an opportunity to share.

The event will end with a group exercise of gratitude and hope.

Please join us at our next Gathering Hope this Tuesday evening, January 10th at 5pm PT/8pm ET. You can find the Zoom link here by clicking this link. We can’t wait to see you there!
