Question: I was just diagnosed with lung cancer this year, so this is my first Lung Cancer Awareness Month. I want to participate, but I’m not sure how. What are the best ways to support Lung Cancer Awareness Month this year?
Participating in Lung Cancer Awareness Month activities is an easy and meaningful way to help raise awareness about lung cancer. There are many ways to get involved, depending on your interests, experiences, and time.
Some ways to participate include:
- Sharing your personal story and experiences with friends, family, coworkers and neighbors to raise awareness about lung cancer in your network and community. You can also share your story with GO2 for a future Survivor Spotlight blog post.
- Share GO2’s lung cancer fact graphics on your own social media accounts.
- Take Action through Voter Voice and send an email or tweet to your legislators.
- Attend a Shine a Light event in your area. Shine a Light events are educational forums where the local lung cancer community gathers to remember, support, connect and learn.
- Give a gift. Join us in the fight against lung cancer. Help us confront lung cancer to save lives, advance research and empower people with a donation to GO2.
In each issue of Your Community, we will be answering your questions about lung cancer and/or GO2 programs and services, questions about screening, treatment types and advancements, clinical trials, support services, and the lung cancer community. To submit your question, please email it to yourcommunity@go2.org. Please note that we cannot answer questions about personal medical decisions.
