Bonnie receiving awardSince her own diagnosis 18 years ago, our co-founder, Bonnie J. Addario, has made it her mission to ensure that every person living with lung cancer has a voice representing their needs. Bonnie began her activism by founding the Addario Lung Cancer Foundation, now GO2 for Lung Cancer, to ensure that everyone with lung cancer has access to education, empowerment, and the quality care that they deserve. Bonnie has had an impact on everyone who has met her and received one of her trademark hugs. The effects of her trailblazing activism are felt throughout the lung cancer community.

In November, Bonnie was awarded the prestigious Leadership in Personalized Medicine award by Precision Medicine Coalition (PMC) for her outstanding impact on lung cancer. This award recognizes an individual whose contributions in science, business, and/or policy have helped advance the frontiers of the field.

Mike Pellini, MD, managing partner at Section 32, nominated Bonnie for PMC’s award this year. When asked what he believes makes Bonnie’s work so impactful he said, “Bonnie makes it personal…when you bring real passion to something [like lung cancer advocacy] and you force companies or force groups to come together with a common cause, that’s ultimately how things change.”

Upon receiving the PMC leadership award, Bonnie shared:

“It has always been my number one priority to make sure that people with lung cancer have felt represented in every conversation and every decision we’ve made at GO2 and certainly in our partnerships with industry and medical institutions. That’s always been a responsibility I’ve taken seriously, but it has also been such an honor to work with so many wonderful people with lung cancer and share their stories and their needs in a way that increases awareness, builds momentum, and improves their lives.”

We are so grateful to Bonnie for everything she has done and continues to do for the lung cancer community. Learn more about her incredible impact.
