Last week, Congress passed the FY22 Omnibus and on Tuesday, President Joe Biden signed into law the Omnibus spending package that includes an additional $20 million in new funding for the Lung Cancer Research Program. This brings total funding for the Lung Cancer Research Program to $195.5M from FY09-FY22.

While it is disappointing that we did not get the $26M requested in Rep Brendan Boyle’s Dear Colleague Letter for FY22, we remain grateful that Congress continues to fund this dedicated pipeline for lung cancer research.

Thank you to all the lung cancer advocates who joined us in advocacy last year. Your voices have made a difference. We look forward to building on this momentum this year, as we work alongside our dedicated community to secure $60M for this year’s FY23 Appropriations.

You can take action to help further increase lung cancer research funding.
