We are proud to share the untold stories of people with lung cancer and their caregivers in Black communities. This originated from GO2 for Lung Cancer’s READY LUNG project. It is part of the lung cancer community’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness about the racial disparities in diagnosing the disease and encourages more people to take the critical step toward early detection.

Why this documentary matters: Amplifying voices, saving lives

Among all racial and ethnic minority groups, Black individuals have the highest incidence and mortality rates for lung cancer. Despite this, awareness and screening rates remain low. Sharing stories from this population is vital to spread awareness, encourage early screening, and begin breaking down these disparities.

We hope to inspire people to seek lung cancer screenings and take control of their health.

What comes next: Spreading awareness, saving lives with READY LUNG

READY LUNG is dedicated to assessing Black communities’ readiness to address lung cancer disparities through education and research. As part of this initiative, we will include this documentary in our pilot educational research workshops across Broward County to increase lung cancer screening rates and support patients in initiating treatment post-diagnosis.
