Dear Friends,

I am reaching out to all of you, my colleagues, my family and my friends to announce that the time has come for me to move on to the next chapter in my life. Planning for and thinking about this next phase has been circling in my mind for some time now and I wanted to share some thoughts with all of you.

I want to start by saying how truly blessed I feel to have had the last 19 years to focus on what matters most to me; the lung cancer community, second only to my family. So much has been accomplished in the last decade and a half and I couldn’t be prouder to have played some small part. I have been honored to work alongside all of you and your brilliant minds… scientists and researchers, healthcare providers, industry partners, policy makers, advocacy groups, caregivers and most importantly, the amazing people living with lung cancer. I have seen us together create great change and have no doubt that you, and those who come after you, will continue the fight until the finish line is crossed. My daughter, Danielle Hicks, will remain as Chief Patient Officer at GO2, who I will continue to work closely with to ensure that the patient voice is always heard and my other daughter, Andrea Parks, will remain on the board of directors. With them and the rest of the GO2 leadership and team, I am certain I am leaving you in great hands.

I have to say that this is a bittersweet time for me, but as I move on to this new chapter, with the acquired wisdom of age, I plan on spending quality time focusing on my health which recently included an aortic aneurism. I plan on exploring new places and things with my husband, my three children, my nine grandchildren and my four great-grandchildren. There is still so much to do and learn from them.

I want to thank you all for your friendship, your encouragement, your intelligence and your never-ending drive to make a difference where it matters most. I will never completely leave this community, you all mean too much, and will continue to be a voice for the patient, for the community and for the care that every patient deserves.

I will move forward with all of you in my heart and in my prayers.

With much love, admiration and thanks, this is not goodbye, but see you soon.
