I was diagnosed almost six years ago (3/27/15) with Stage IV NSCLC adenocarcinoma, KRAS G12V and am currently NED. I’ve now become more involved in patient advocacy and support for newly diagnosed lung cancer patients, and participated in the 2021 Lung Cancer Voices Summit.
My lung cancer diagnosis was a total surprise and I had no warning or symptoms until two days before I was hospitalized with significant neurological changes. I thought I had vertigo, but two days later after an urgent head CT I found out that I had a brain tumor and was immediately hospitalized. I spent the next week going through numerous tests and ultimately learned I have stage IV NSCLC that had spread to my brain.
I have been following GO2 for Lung Cancer for the past few years and have enjoyed participating in the Lung Cancer Registry and watching the Lung Cancer Living Room series. I admire all the work that Bonnie, her family, and the foundation have done to promote lung cancer awareness and advocacy.
I would like new patients to know there is HOPE; I am living proof and happy to be doing well!
Help raise awareness and offer hope to those newly diagnosed or going through a tough time. Share your lung cancer story today!
Lisa, you’re truly a positive light in the darkness cancer brings into our lives. Your continued work to bring awareness to lung cancer is so admirable. Thank you for dedication.
I also have stage 4 NSCLC which has metastasized to my brain with 14 brain tumors. While initially given 4-9 months to live, I am still here 2.5 years later. I was in remission for the past year and just was told my brain cancer is growing. While I don’t have any system other than minor headaches, I take hope from reading your case in that you have been kept alive six years. Thank you for sharing your storyl
Needed to see this!!
Thank you for sharing your story Lisa. It is a story of hope! Very inspiring to a fellow stage IV lung cancer survivor. I’m going into my 4th year. 🙂
Thank you for sharing!
Lisa,
That is fantastic and hopeful news for myself. I too was shocked with the stage IV diagnosis… one day I’m doing boot camp, thought I caught a bad cold, next I’m being told I have NSCLC – with a met exon 14 skipping mutation. I hope to be telling my story and to be NED one day like you!!
Thank God for you and your inspiring story!!!
You give patients HOPE. You truly are living proof and feel blessed that I know you. Keep up your important work – IT MATTERS.
Hi Lisa,
Thanks for sharing your story. You are an inspiration and give us all hope. I’m stage IVa with Met exons skipping 14. After the last scan it shows I am getting closer to NED. The work you do is so important…thank you.
Thank you for sharing your story…provides a hopeful picture for all of us dealing with Stage IV NSLC adenocarcinoma.
