Lung Cancer Awareness Month
Confronting lung cancer together this November

This Lung Cancer Awareness Month, it’s more important than ever to raise awareness and take action. Each week, we’ll come together around 1 simple action to confront lung cancer—because small steps add up to big impact. To help amplify your voice, we’ve also created a toolkit packed with social media content and resources you can use all month long. When it comes to confronting lung cancer, we are stronger together.
Week 1:
Educating for better outcomes
Find a Shine a Light on Lung Cancer® event near you—and invite a friend to join you! These powerful gatherings bring communities together to honor, educate, and inspire.
No event nearby? You can still make your voice heard! Use our advocacy toolkit to contact your members of Congress from home and speak up for people affected by lung cancer.
“This is one of my favorite events as we get to share the information regarding lung cancer…and talk with survivors and their families.”
–Jesica Smith, SSM Health, MO
Week 2:
Screening saves lives
Early detection saves lives. Veterans and active-duty military face a higher risk of lung cancer, making screening very important. With Veterans Day around the corner, and National Lung Cancer Screening Day on November 8, take this opportunity to learn more about lung cancer screening and talk to your healthcare team if you are at risk.
“National Lung Cancer Screening Day provides a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our patients who choose to get screened and to increase lung cancer awareness. It’s an upbeat event with refreshments and lots of white ribbons; it is such a positive experience for all who participate.”
–Dr. Debra Dyer, thoracic radiologist, National Jewish Health in Denver, CO
Week 3:
Supporting patients and caregivers
Join us for the Lung Cancer Living Room® this week. Listen, learn, and connect from the comfort of your home, or at our Living Room in San Carlos, CA. The Living Room makes it easy to access expert insights, ask questions, and find support, no matter where you are.
“I have attended almost every Living Room since it began many years ago. The Living Room creates a place for hope, love, education, resources, comfort, friendship, and more.”
–Sally Samuels, lung cancer survivor
Week 4:
Advocate for lifesaving change
Your voice matters. Register now for the 2026 Lung Cancer Voices Summit to help restore and increase vital federal research funding for lung cancer.
Together, our voices will be heard!
“I return to the Voices Summit because it reminds me that advocacy fuels progress. The treatments keeping me alive today began with research years ago, and it’s our voices that help ensure tomorrow’s breakthroughs reach everyone who needs them.”
–Sydney Barned, MD, lung cancer survivor and Voices Summit Planning Advisory Committee member
Social media toolkit
Make an impact all month long with our easy-to-use social media toolkit! Filled with shareable facts and graphics that spotlight the urgent need for awareness and funding, our toolkit makes it easier than ever to raise awareness. Use your voice to spread the word.
