GO2 for Lung Cancer joined a diverse group of women’s health champions by signing two letters sent to First Lady Jill Biden, who leads the White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research. The letters offer insights and recommendations on opportunities to fundamentally change approaches to increased health research and funding for women.
GO2 is excited to represent the lung cancer community in this vital discussion. GO2 has long stood for the needs of women impacted by lung cancer. This work provides an opportunity to elevate lung cancer in this coalition as we advocate for policies that will improve the health and well-being of all women.
Advancing women’s health research
GO2 President & CEO Laurie Ambrose joined 303 national leaders, offering specific and extensive recommendations on opportunities to advance women’s health through research, innovation, and access to care. The key recommendations in the letter include:
- Increasing federal research funding for women’s health
- Increasing the number of women represented in clinical research that is proportionate to disease impact
- Improving access to care and innovation
- Strengthening support for maternal health and OBGYN services
Investing in innovation
GO2 was one of 563 leading entrepreneurs and CEOs offering insights and recommendations on investment and regulatory changes that will fundamentally improve women’s health. These include:
- Access to capital
- Improved data gathering, analysis, and sharing
- Reducing regulatory barriers and improving coverage and reimbursements
- Creating a new focus within departments such as the FDA on women’s health
GO2 looks forward to working with the White House and other stakeholders on the Initiative on Women’s Health Research to bring elevated attention to lung cancer. Investing in women’s health will fill gaps in science, advance innovations, and improve equitable access that will benefit the health and well-being of all women.
