The problem: understanding who is more likely to get lung cancer

The Lung Cancer Risk Survey is part of a research study created by lung cancer doctors, researchers, and advocates. It looks at how things like family history, lifestyle, environment, and job-related exposures may affect a person’s chance of developing lung cancer.

The goal is to improve lung cancer screening, find lung cancer earlier, and make sure that people at highest risk get the support they need.

You may be able to take part if 1 or more of the following apply to you:

  • You have a family history of lung cancer
  • You’ve worked in jobs with poor air quality (like military service, mining, or firefighting)
  • You’ve been exposed to radon
  • You have or had a lung disease like COPD or pulmonary fibrosis
  • You’ve used tobacco products
  • You were near major air pollution events (such as 9/11 or wildfires)

The Lung Cancer Risk Survey

The Lung Cancer Risk Survey is part of GO2’s Lung Cancer Registry. It includes 4 surveys that focus on different areas of life that may increase or lower lung cancer risk. By finding patterns in these areas, researchers can better understand who may be at higher risk and use this information to help find lung cancer when it is easier to treat and possibly cure.

People who join will complete 4 short surveys:

  • Home history survey
  • Work history survey
  • Lifestyle survey
  • Medical history survey

The surveys take about 20–25 minutes total. Participants who complete all 4 will receive a $20 Visa or Amazon gift card.

How can you help?

To participate, you need to have a Lung Cancer Registry account.

If you are new to the Lung Cancer Registry:
  1. Visit go2.org/registry and click the “Join Now” button in the upper right corner.
  2. Answer the eligibility questions. If you say “yes” to being at risk and meet at least 1 of the conditions described above, you’ll be shown an informed consent form explaining the study and how your information will be kept safe.
  3. After agreeing, complete a brief profile and access the 4 surveys in your dashboard.
If you already have a Lung Cancer Registry account:

Log in at go2.org/registry and look for the 4 surveys in your dashboard. You may see other studies you’re eligible for as well.

GO2 for Lung Cancer’s involvement

This research is being done by GO2 for Lung Cancer’s Global Lung Cancer Registry. GO2 staff are directly involved with all aspects of the study from designing the survey, enrollment, engagement, analyzing the data, and sharing the results of the study with the lung cancer community.
